TiE Women

TiE Talks

TiE Women is a global initiative aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs by providing them with resources, support, and networking opportunities to help them scale their businesses.

With a vast international reach, TiE Women connects women across various industries, facilitating mentorship, knowledge sharing, and access to funding opportunities. The program organizes pitch competitions that allow women entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas to a global audience, while also receiving critical feedback from seasoned experts. Through these competitions, participants gain visibility, credibility, and the chance to secure investment.

The TiE Women network is a vibrant community of like-minded women, mentors, investors, and industry leaders, all working together to foster the growth of women-led businesses. This platform not only promotes entrepreneurship but also ensures women have the tools and connections necessary for long-term success in the global market.

Modeled after TED Talks, TiE Talks feature eminent speakers who are thought leaders, serial entrepreneurs, investors, and philanthropists in our community.  The intent of a TiE Talk is to have the speaker share “Two Pearls of Wisdom” — one professional and one personal — in under 20 minutes.  Unlike, TED Talks, the audience has the unique opportunity to ask questions.  The Q&A portion is unique to TiE Talks.

Our hope is that TiE Talks provide a platform to share the intimate trials and tribulations gained from decades of experience with our budding entrepreneurial community, and boost the impact of TiE Pittsburgh — not just locally but world-wide.

TiE Talks serve as a great public networking opportunity for entrepreneurs, thought leaders, charter members, and more.

Our first TiE Talk held on Feb 26, 2019 featured Sunil Wadhwani (former CEO of IGATE, philanthropist and serial entrepreneur).  He delivered a strong message in his 21 minute talk “Want to be happy? Get MAD!”.  You can watch the recording of this talk and more at the link below.

TiE Young Entrepreneurs

To deliver on our mission of fostering entrepreneurship through education and mentoring, TiE Pittsburgh builds partnerships with local educational institutions and universities.  We support their entrepreneurial programs by offering their students memberships, internship opportunities, and entrepreneurial education.  Many of our charter members are faculty members, professors, and educators at local universities which helps us offer customized instructions to entrepreneurial students.

In 2024, TiE Pittsburgh partnered with numerous successful founders and the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University to support local students and their entrepreneurial endeavors through our TYE program.
